This is a new line I will be creating for Etsy.com, Art in the Park in Westminster MD (hopefully)and perhaps other vendor type shows in the future.
I have always loved the look of antlers, the unique shapes and colors and no 2 are ever alike. Coming from a West Virgina back ground I noticed antler art is usually the interest of county folk and rustic lodge decor type and that inst a style I particularly care for.
Being a lover of Etsy, I paroozed though and found a fantastic shop selling their antler finds. I dont want to give away my little secret but Mark of hiddentreasures4u.etsy.com is a super friendly seller with reasonable prices! After a few conversations he helped me start my new collection.
So with this new collection I tried to create a shabby chic, mod pieces of original artwork using naturally shed antlers. For this piece in particular I used a 16 X 20 piece of sanded down pine, watered down acrylic and graphite to create the white rabbit and with the help of my father, some power tools and an antler I created the Jackalope.
I am working on my next antler inspired piece today! I going back and forth between an owl or a heavily fringed girl… opinions?
